The World's Neurochemistry Portal -maintained by the International Society for Neurochemistry
17 - 21 May 2010 Acitrezza, Italy
Registration deadline April 30th, 2010
This is the first school dedicated to the topic “cellular lipidomics which defines and introduces the field before developing deeply into the methods, processes, analyses, and research aspects. The main mission of the School is to present the state-of-the-art and future perspectives for lipidomics applied to the analyses and metabolism of nervous system tissue and cells. The school lectures uncover the biosynthesis, metabolism, and function of glycerophospholipids, sphingolipids, and lipids that complex with proteins.
It will be a great opportunity for bringing together worldwide undergraduate and graduate students, young scientists, post-graduate trainees and clinicians, interested in interdisciplinary neurochemical topics, in a friendly atmosphere for reciprocal benefits in terms of enthusiasm, knowledge and new ideas. We welcome to an unique trans-institutional training program in “neurolipidomics” focused on identifying and reversing pathogenic global and regional changes in CNS lipid metabolism that render our brain vulnerable to neurodegenerative diseases. The Faculty will elaborate upon cutting-edge approaches to lipid analysis and diagnostic approaches using lipids involved with the signaling pathway.
A maximum number of 20 students will be allowed. The registration is free, and includes lodging in double room, meals, social events and transfer airport-Catania-airport. Arrival May 16 th before 5 p.m., departure May 22nd before 1 a.m.
