The dynamic port city of Busan proved to be a wonderful venue for the 22nd Biennial Meeting. The co-chairmen of the local organising committee, Yoo-Hun Suh and Kyung-Jin Kim, along with their colleagues worked extremely hard to deliver an impressive programme to 1,145 registrants. Their efforts, and those of the programme chair Eric Klann, meant all registrants were kept scrambling between multiple sessions. Many young scientists from Korea were present and 10% of the younger registrants received travel awards from ISN. A highlight of the Congress dinner was a spectacular display of traditional Korean dance. At the pre-Congress Advanced School of Neurochemistry, 45 young neurochemists were treated to the latest advances in “Cellular Communication in the Nervous System”. Post-congress satellites (5) were held in several adjoining countries.
