The 2008 Third ISN Special Neurochemistry Conference - 8th International Meeting for Brain Energy Metabolism – “Neurodegeneration and Regeneration” will be hosted in the city of Beijing, China.
It is unprecedented to hold the ISN Special Neurochemistry Conference in Asia, and we are sure the city of Beijing, China can offer a suitable atmosphere for neuroscientists of this conference to really experience the wonderful city and to explore the exciting Chinese culture, historical monuments, delicate cuisines, and the people of China. The city of Beijing will also be holding the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, which will be an additional treasure for visitors to enjoy. We hold this meeting in China with a wish that Chinese neuroscientists can interact and share new ideas with ISN delegates around the world on their intriguing discoveries on neuroscience. We also hope that through this meeting, delegates can cultivate new collaborations with neuroscientists in China, providing greater opportunities for scientific research in the field of neurochemistry.
Combined with the opportunity to visit Beijing’s wealth of scenic and cultural sites and tourist attractions (e.g. the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, and Summer Palace), the conference would undoubtedly be enjoyable and provide an unforgettable experience for many attendees (particularly those from the western countries). The local organizing committee will provide an eye-opening opportunity for the ISN Special Conference participants to understand more about neuroscience in China and to make use of talents in this vast country.
The date of the conference was selected to be late June or early July because this time will be a good opportunity to visit Beijing before the Summer Olympic Games, but avoiding the large number of tourists and visitors during the Olympics. This date was also selected to avoid clashing with the teaching schedules of many professors during September, which is the start of the academic year for many universities.
The ISN Third Special Conference will also be the 8th International Meeting for Brain Energy Metabolism. The focus will be on “Neurodegeneration and Regeneration”. The objective of this meeting is to gather neuroscientists around the globe for an informative and stimulating discussion in China on the latest knowledge on neurosciences, particularly on neuro-degenerative diseases (e.g. Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Huntington’s disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), cerebral infarction and haemorrhage, cerebral trauma, cerebral palsy and myelitis); and on neuro-regeneration, new drug developments and treatment therapies for neuro-degenerative diseases and spinal cord injuries.
