- Renew your ISN membership for 2019 as soon as possible. Only active ISN Student and Postdoc Members are entitled to apply for ISN support.
- ISN will actively support the attendance of ISN Student and Postdoc Members at ISN-ASN 2019 in Montreal. The financial support includes a registration fee waiver for the meeting as well as, depending on the region an applicant is based, a defined amount of money that will help to cover most of the expenses for economy travel to Montreal and reasonable accommodation. For participants of the ISN Advanced School, ISN will additionally provide accommodation and food at the School and transport between Montreal and the School venue.
- Prepare early by having all the required documents and files connected with your application uploaded to the application pages. Do not miss the deadline: February 28, 2019. Apply early!
- Before you can apply for a talk in an ISN-YMS, an ISN Travel Award or the ISN Advanced School you have to register for ISN-ASN 2019 and submit an abstract for the conference. Your submitted abstract will be connected to your application for ISN support. Please note that you can register and submit an abstract without paying the registration fee for the meeting, in case that you plan to apply for one or more of the three types of ISN support. If you are successful with your application, you will receive a registration fee waiver as part of the ISN support. If you should not be successful with an application for support, you will be invited to pay the open registration fee (200 US dollars) to keep your registration and abstract submission active.
- Please be aware that the international Committees that will evaluate your application (your CV, your abstract and all other uploaded files) represent neurochemistry experts who excel in quite different research fields and are based in different countries and continents. Therefore, please make your CV, abstract and letters understandable for all committee members, and refrain from using any type of local or national abbreviations that may not be understood internationally.
- For all applications, you need a letter of support from your PhD supervisor or the principal investigator/head of your research group (PI). During the application process, you will have to invite your supervisor/PI via the application page to upload her/his letter of recommendation for your application. Please ensure that the correct contact e-mail address of your supervisor/PI is provided during the application, that your supervisor/PI knows about the electronic request for a supporting letter, and that the letter of support will be uploaded sufficiently early by your supervisor/PI before the deadline for applications (February 28, 2019).
- During the application process, you can save incomplete drafts. You can complete and edit your application any time before the deadline. After submission of your completed application, you will receive a confirmation of the successful submission via e-mail. Please note that incomplete applications that were not fully completed before the deadline (for example due to missing essential information or a missing supporting letter), will not be considered for support. Apply early!
- Prepare all files to be uploaded as single PDF files in advance before starting the application process. Each PDF file should not be larger than 2 megabytes. All uploaded letters have to be written on your official Institution Letterhead and must bear your original signature before they are uploaded.
- The deadline is fixed for February 28, 2019. We do not plan any extension of the deadline for the applications for ISN support.
- The respective ISN Committees will evaluate in March 2019 all submitted and completed applications that have been received before the deadline. Information on the success of an application will most likely be communicated to the applicants (via e-mail) before April.
- Successful applicants will have to provide their banking details sufficiently early before the meeting (after invitation to do so) via an electronic reimbursement form that will be provided by ISN. The details listed on the reimbursement form have to be confirmed in person by the successful applicant during the Montreal meeting with a member of the ISN Secretariat. The granted ISN support will finally be transferred to the listed personal account of the successful applicant after the Montreal meeting.
